Christ Church Children’s Center is open Monday - Friday from 6:30AM - 6:00PM.
The Center observes federal holidays and is closed for the holiday the week between Christmas and New Year’s (please see our School Calendar for the full list of Center closure dates).
(6 weeks - 17 months old)
Our childcare providers are committed to giving your little one the very best possible care. Our Infant/Toddler program provides a secure, nurturing environment where children can grow, learn and be valued for the unique gift they are. We are very aware of how difficult it can be to leave your infant/toddler in childcare for the first time. Transitioning to and from the center is not always easy. Establishing and sticking to a routine helps your child feel secure; they begin to learn what to expect next.
(18 months - 2 years old)
Our energetic and patient childcare providers are ready to take on days filled with lots of movement, learning games and activities created specifically for their stage in development. Teachers will focus on listening, speaking and pre-reading skills, social emotional development, motor skills and potty training.
(2 - 5 years old ONLY)
We know that children who receive high-quality early childhood education are better prepared to succeed in elementary and secondary classrooms. Our Early Learning Program is a part-time program with hours from 9:00AM-12:30PM. This exposes children to our curriculum driven hours which will help to prepare them for kindergarten and beyond. They are also able to take part in a family style lunch with their friends before leaving at 12:30PM.
The Early Learning Program does not take place during Summer months.
(3 - 5 years old)
Curriculum hours take place from
9:00AM – 12:30AM each day.
We offer fully accredited curriculum, by the Maryland State Department of Education.
The program used is the Houghton Mifflin Co., the same program used by our local elementary school. Our Curriculum includes the seven domains of learning from the Maryland Model for School Readiness Guidelines. These domains include: personal and social development, language and literacy, mathematical thinking, scientific thinking, social studies, the arts, physical development and health.
Children will have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of centers including: Science, Math, Dramatic Play, Listening/Music, Computer, Art, Blocks/construction, Manipulatives, Library and Language/Reading.
In the afternoon, the children will gather for afternoon snack before heading outside to the playground. If weather does not permit outdoor play, the afternoon may include indoor physical play, movies, centers, manipulatives and/or book time.
(Kindergarten - 5th Grade)
Before and/or after school care is available from 6:30AM to the beginning of the regular school day and after school dismissal until our closing hour of 6:00PM.
Middletown Primary School provides bus transportation to and from the Children's center. Middletown Elementary School children are transported by a Center certified teacher in our Children's Center van.
On most afternoons when the school age children arrive at the center, they clean up, have snack and have approximately 30 minutes of home work time. Teachers and aides are available to help with homework. Children without homework may look at books independently during this time. After this time children may be making crafts, participating in group activities or playing outside on the playground, weather permitting.
The Center follows Frederick County (Maryland) Public Schools' calendar and provides care on days that FCPS opens late, dismisses early or is closed for an additional fee (please see our CCCC School Calendar for full list of Center closures).
Although the rules in your child's classroom may differ slightly,
there are some general rules that are enforced at
Christ Church Children's Center. They are as follows:
1. Show respect to others by being kind with your words and actions.
2. Listen carefully and follow directions.
3. Be responsible for yourself and your actions.
4. Be honest.
5. Walk and use quiet voices while inside.
All children are made aware of the classroom rules. If a child misbehaves, the consequences will be given in a positive and constructive manner.
At Christ Church Children's Center, discipline is not viewed as a punishment, but as a way of teaching appropriate behavior and ensuring the safety of all children. We observe the following discipline procedure:
First - Verbal warning with a discussion of what is acceptable behavior.
Second - Removal of the child from the activity.
Third - Separation of the child from the group for a short period of time.
Fourth - Parent will be contacted, either verbally or by note, and asked to assist the teacher in addressing the problem.
In extreme cases, continuous lack of cooperation could result in the suspension or dismissal of the child from the Center.
In the event of inclement weather, we will utilize the Procare App to notify
parents of any delays, early closures or full day closures.
CCCC follows the Frederick County Government NOT FCPS.
